Successful technologies today seldom come about due to a grand “Eureka” event. Rather, they come from lots of people all having little Eurekas and little “damn, I was sure that would work” moments. -Clark Lindsey
Pulsejets are devices for turning aviation fuel into noise, with a slight side effect of thrust.
They’re great for models because unlike ordinary jet turbines they scale down really well, but they’re not suitable for large-scale use.
(That said, there is research in valveless pulsejets going on right now — apparently they work at a very wide range of speeds, unlike traditional turbines.)
🙂
Yeah pulse detonation engines, either for extra compression in a turbine engine or without turbines for high speed propulsion. Funny thing that a PDE engine (a modified car piston engine) was tested on a Long-Ez as well! This time real size. The canard is good for pusher propulsion testing. http://mojaveskies.blogspot.com/2008/05/air-forcescaled-composites-pde-long-ez.html
