At work, I sometimes hear of the kind of funny approach from non-IT companies: they’re afraid to buy software that’s not proprietary to some software company. Open source sounds very suspicious to them. But to the contrary, open source software is often inherently more robust since anyone can make improvements or start a company offering support. If a closed source software maker decides to stop supporting an old product, you’re done. We need robust approaches with redundancies, to software and all things digital.
